The Laius Complex/ the authoritarian Father

The son unborn mars beauty; born he brings pain, divides attention, increases care… His growth is his father's decline, his youth his father's envy.

what happens when Jason is taking back the power from Medea (to whom he owns his authority)

when authority loses its sensitivity, is doomed to lose power

when one denies sharing power, yet, gets what he/she will not share, he/she will lose his/her sensitivity at the moment he bends to the fact that power is only exchangeable.

actually, i do not think it is sensitivity power loses but its agility and aggressivity.

"Power corresponds to the human ability not just to act but to act in concert. Power is never the property of an individual; it belongs to a group and remains in existence only so long as the group keeps together.

Authority can be vested in persons - there is such a thing as personal authority, as for instance, in the relation between parent and child, between teacher and pupil - or it can be vested in offices, as, for instance, in the Roman senate or in the hierarchical offices of the Church. (A priest can grant valid absolution even though he is drunk.) Its hallmark is unquestioning recognition by those who are asked to obey; neither coercion nor persuasion is needed.

Violence, can destroy power; it is utterly incapable of creating it." H.Arrendt

power therefore cannot be exchangeable, authority can.
so you helped me clarify my statements.I should rather rephrase them as:

what happens when Laius/Father, denies the sharing of authority with Jocasta/Mother

what happens when Jason is taking back the authority from Medea (to whom he owns it)

exchangeable in the sense of power taken in turns, one brings down the other, unexpectedly or at some point in time. I am not talking about a bond of inter/ex/changeable authority.

so, if every relationa are a matter of "justice" (equality) and not law then:

"there is a paralysis of the dominant trends in the discussion of violence, pointing out how opposing sides of the debate both lead to contradictions because they share terms which are accepted as axiomatic, but which are not in fact independent. Walter Benjamin argues that

... "it is not possible to separate violence from law; that all violence is either law-making or law-preserving; that all law, however remote it may seen from its origins and from the forces which maintain it, is latent violence. Therefore it is violence itself which decides what violence is justifiable for what ends. This circle defines violence self-evidently as a natural means of achieving natural or legal ends.

The power established by law-making violence threatens the law-breaker with law-preserving violence. But this threat is subject to fate, because the criminal might not get caught, and his or her ‘violation’ of the law threatens to become in turn a law-making violence and thus a challenge to existing power. How-ever, if it is not just a matter of getting away with it at an individual level and the challenge to existing power is self-conscious and victorious — as in a political revolution — then the contest can only begin again. Benjamin characterises this as a mythical cycle bound to endless repetition like the mythical punishments — or perhaps bound to violent tautology as in Kafka’s penal colony where the punishment consists in the mechanical inscription of the law on the body of the guilty victim.

These are the cycles of repetition which constitute history as a series of disasters prompted by fate. Benjamin acknowledges possible forms of non-violent resolution of potential conflicts between people, but these are immaterial because they are not legal, and as soon as they would be codified by legal contract or treaty, would again be subject to force."

You have to express more your opinion to attract more readers, because just a video or plain text without any personal approach is not that valuable. But it is just form my point of view

thank you for your comment
I'm using this blog to keep notes, at this point it's not my priority to attract readers.I think the editing shows my personal interests and questions. But you are right, it is my aim to further develop my skills in writing and be able to express my ideas in length.
